It's where I haven't been that's telling

Do you know where I've been since Italy?
1. St Louis
2. Colorado Springs
3. Joshua Tree, Palm Springs and Big Bear California
4. Reimer's Rock Ranch
5. Steamboat Springs, Colorado
6. Washington D.C.

And where I haven't been? Bandera, East Texas and Rocky RacCoon have all happened since I got back from California and I have attended exactly zero.
I have run twice, however. A half mile each time
It all started the day I got back from Italy and rebroke my ankle.
I had Xrays and doctors' visits and needles and an MRI. It all comes down to an ankle that was broken and a piece of bone that would never heal.

So, on Dec. 13th they took it out. The piece of bone.
On Dec. 23rd they took out the stiches.
The next day we flew to LA for Christmas with my folks.
It was nice Christmas Day and Mike and I drove into Joshua Tree National Monument and hiked into 39 palms oasis. On the way home, we had lunch in the Joshua Tree Saloon - it was the only place open.
We spent Sunday at the College Fair. Pretty much a giant flea market that doesn't change from year to year. Afterwards, Mom insisted that she take us to this cute little resturant called Mimi's. Every year I have to tell her the Mimi's is a chain and that we have one about 2 miles from our house.
So, instead, we had brunch at the Country Club where they live.
In the afternoon, Mike and I headed downtown to find the local bike shops and see about renting a ride.
On Monday, we sped around town on two heavy, clunky pieces of bike. They were not safe to take off road and besides, my ankle wasn't going to handle any climbing. So, afer about 30 yards up the only trail I knew about, we rode around the older neighborhoods of Palm Springs looking at million dollar houses.
Tuesday, we went skiing. Course, it was raining as hard as it's ever rained in Palm Springs, so the drive up the mountain itself was interesting. We kept having to cross impomptu rivers.
The snow started sticking at 8000 feet, but never really got past slush. The Mt, is at 9000 feet and it was basically raining on us the whole time.
It turns out that the skiing and the walking were fine in ski boots, but 2 weeks post surgery, I could not handle the boot and ski hanging from my ankle and pressing on my incision.
We quit when we were wet through and through, changed clothes and headed back down to Palm Springs.
Wednesday, we did Starbucks and shopping (for Dad's new computer memory) and went to see THE INCREDIBLES.
We also saw "Ray" while we were there. They were both very good.
Thursday when it had finally stopped raining we went to the park again, and tried climbing. Unfortunately, the foot felt fine but my head was not in it.
We opted for a hike instead and took a lot of cool pictures.
That night we went to dinner at Haleiwa Joes Hawaiian Seafood house. It was a great meal. We had hte PuPu platter.
Oh, and I did run. One whole circuit of the Country Club road in front of my parents place.
When we got home on New Year's Eve, Annie picked us up and took us to her house to have dinner. Then, we were all going to Dive Barb and Knut KNudger's house for a pajama party... but I was just too tire. We went home and I went to sleep.
So much for New Year's eve.
Next year. VEGAS!
