What I didn't do was have any fun

On Thursday last week, Justin came over and helped me to unload the POD. It took all evening.
On Friday I went to work and it was super stressful. I came home and put together my new dining room set. I put things away -- you know. Table cloths into the Hutch, crystal into the china cabinet, trash into the trash, boxes into the recycling, and so forth. I moved the futon off the frame in the office and then realized I could not carry it. I moved the futon from the living room to the den and left the heavier one on the floor. Dogs appreciated it.
I then moved the book shelf across the room and broke it. I spent some time with glue and zip ties. I put all the books on the table and put the shelf where it was finally going to go.
I think at some point I sat on the couch and watched two episodes of Numb3rs.
That said, I could not sleep on Saturday morning. So I did dishes.
Then, I went to Joe's and got the truck.
Coming home, I was going to get some tacos, but forgot. I took Tyler and Bailey to see Dr. Kohnermann. Such a nice guy. But it took 45 minutes instead of 15. They are both very healthy.
Then, I was already late to get to Amy's. So I had Jack in the Box tacos. And I remembered why I quit doing that. Amy had a lot of stuff in bags, so we loaded her truck and the one I borrowed from Joe. Mattress, Box spring, dresser, and clothes....
Finally, we had to sit and wait for Gina to arrive so we could get the TV and tv stand into her SUV. Then load up the dogs and drive home.
The thing is, there was so much crap on the floor and counters at Amy's old house i got a bit scared.... but it was all Stephanie and Eric's. The babysitter was watching TV on the couch and when Amy got back at 4 p.m. to trade cars, the babysitter was still there.
We moved Amy's stuff into the room and I had to move the credenza out. And the TV. Everything else fit.
We hung up a lot of her clothes. She then washed her sheets.
At that time we decided it was time to head to La Fondita for lunch. Annie had arrived and we ate and chatted. Then we went home to meet John.
We had moved the old buffet onto the lawn. And we grabbed that heavy futon and moved it onto the frame, also sitting on the front lawn.
Then we rearranged the den, moving the couch and TV to opposite walls of the room, along with moving the Map Table into the den and taking everything off the shelves and putting it back later.
Then, I had to put sheets away. Then, I had to put photo albums away. Then, I had to hang the big mirror over the new couch. Then I had to hand all my photos and other art. Then I had to rehang the mirror in the dining room and rehang all the dog things and the mask from Africa.
Then, I had to move my computer stuff and then I had to set up cable and the Internet and TIVO... and it took me a while as I was trying to set all this stuff up with one too few chords.
You'd think I would want to do something fun on Sunday, but no... aside from the grocery, the hardware store and Big Lots (to buy and iron), I just moved more furniture. Oh, and I mowed the forest in the back yard. I finally decided that I could not bear to move the rest of the furniture. So I took the truck back to Joe.
He decided to help me as he could not see me living that way. We moved the mattress and the futon rather quickly by dragging them. Then, we moved the futon frame. He carried the second TV to my truck and we got the credenza out of my room and into te back of said truck. I nearly collapsed with joy. I took a shower.
But I still hadn't changed the sheets on me bed. And the dogs needed baths, and I had to make Joe a Lasagna. And I couldn't find my camera and none of it mattered. I went to bed anyway... after a brief cooking and kitchen cleaning affair. I did not have a cookout. I did not hash. I did not go to brunch at Jorge and Sharon's and I did not iron my curtain hems and I did not sweep, vacuum or mop and I did not mow the front lawn, or buy and lay down sod or put any of the jets back into the hot tub or even unpack the contents of the map table.
It was too much and it will take two weeks now for me to find the energy to attack it again.
I do have to make five more lasagnas and some gumbo and a bunch of dirty rice. But I will start tomorrow at an earlier hour - when it's still light out - to mow the lawn. Then make the lasagnas.
Mark comes home in 3.5 days.
