Heaven is not that far away

The trail is clean. We, the North Texas Trail Runners, spent the morning picking up trash at the NorthShore Trail.
Paula Billman and I got two bags of it just hanging around at the 2-mile mark.
Then we had breakfast at Little Pete's. But that was all I could handle. I came home and went to bed.

Last night, however, I could have sailed forever. It was the most glorious night in a long, long time. I invited myself to go sailing and despite missing out on the "after" party, my face hurt from all the grinning. I was able to sail both ways, and even convince Todd to let me sail into the slip. He must have told me 5 times that his balls might not be big enough.
I guess one doesn't need balls. We were gliding along into the marina and I nosed the boat in with grace and ease. It was a glorious feeling.
Me personally, I think we are born to certain knowledge. Mine is for water.
Paula even mentioned to me as I related this story, that I really like water. She so gets it.
The moon was almost full -- one day past, I think -- and played upon the clouds all night. The temperature settled down nicely and the tequila hit the spot.
Todd and I talked about art museums, spies we've known and loved, the ends of our respective love affairs, how we grew up to love boats (and water) and where on earth he might have put his car keys.
Last I checked, he was still at Scott's Landing thinking they were in his truck. Not good.
Still, the quality of air, light, temp., wind, space and company made for an almost magical night. I think Todd even described it as perfect.
