Everyone here has a gas mower. I have a push mower with a spinning blade. The spinning is augmented by a battery. The yard is currently half mowed.
This does not include the back. In the back, I am going to poison the weeds, spread a lot of gravel and hope that it stops raining soon.
But back the front.
I moved in two weeks ago. In those two weeks it has rained every single day. During one rain - storm - most of a tree ended up in my yard. Laying down in my yard. Dutifully sawed up, that tree is now piled on the sidewalk. But the rest of the front yard needed mowing. And so, before the neighbors even got up for church, I took the mower out there to scalp the leafy greenness.
But it had rained the night before.
So, it is half way done. The small, dead wood scattered everywhere in the lawn from the pecan tree clogged the mower up on each and every single pass. The wet Johnson grass wound itself tightly around the axles. The unevenness made dirt fly in my general direction.
And there are ants.
Which is why, after I finish breakfast and regain my composure, I will inventory the bins in the back yard and make my list.
Most people visit a house of worship on Sundays and tithe part of their earnings to enhance the community of believers.
I go to Home Depot. To buy poison and other instruments of death and destruction.
