Loss

Madhu -- moved to D.C. (now my second favorite city) for a fantastic job, bought a house and fell in love with a little white ankle biter.

Kim -- traded in tradition for small-town, high-altitude freedom.

Jeff -- married a red-head and gave me yet another reason to visit my home town.

Lisa -- Decided 15 years of Texas was enough. Went to Colorado to practice medicine and set up NTTR West

Marty -- Fled the politics and consumer culture of America in favor of Asian women and kimchee for breakfast.

AnnMarie -- Gave me my first reason to visit Virginia

Jeff Siu -- Living and learning in Detroit. I miss his hairless Asian skin and his willingness to do anything.

Mango -- Began the exodus to Atlanta. Married now.

Alex -- Not sure where he hasn't lived since the left Dallas for greener pastures.

Clifford and Lisa -- Atlanta.

Ken -- Colorado

Amy and Kurt -- Florida

Jeff Luchsinger -- D.C.

H -- D.C.

Roberto -- living with Vivian.

And then there's Mark, who is currently in Spain. Who doesn't know if he'll be living in Toronto, New Zealand or Houston next month.

Of all the things I am sure of... each of these losses is a hole in my heart that opens up again each time I am saddened. I write this list because recently I have been missing you all way too often.

Loss works like that. It reminds us of its predecessors.

What a day you must have had. I felt your pain coming through all the way here. I wish I could express the usual truisms about loss, but somehow those words do not come to me when I think of you. I miss you too. I just wish we could find a way to meet more often. At least I know that you're a dear, dear friend and that when I feel this deep sense of loss and start counting my blessings you're up there right at the top. I am looking forward to seeing you SOON. Just need to work out my schedules. I'm going batty right now with several certification courses, added work responsibilities and oh yes: Dianne broke HER leg...same leg that I broke..except her's is broken in 2 places..and she now has 4 flights of stairs to negotiate where I had none :-)) My next house HAS to be a rambler.. just as soon as the darned market picks up... and HEY, he is NOT an ankle biter..he's just the cutest sweetest little ball of fur you could ever find..proof..he turned a sworn dog hater like my dad into goo. Love you and talk to you soon.
