Take a sharp onion and chop coursly.
Take a bunch of bacon and chop, too.
Sautee these together in a HUGE pot.
Cut up four med. potatoes and four large turnips.
Add to pot.Add a 1.lb bag of mini carrots.
Chop and add a head of cabbage.
Salt.
Add two cans each garbanzo beans, navy beans and butter beans.
Add bay leaves.
Add Garlic to taste (I recommend a lot of cloves).
Finally, as this is all simmering together, cover with water until it has the consistency of soup.
Now, if you prefer, cut up some Polish sausage or andouille or whatever you have.
Fry the in a pan until they are "Crisp" and then add them to the pot.
Now cook until all is soft and flavors have blended.
FYI... bratwurst work too, but you have to wait until the end to cut, fry and add them or they fall apart.
